Charlotte Ann (Merriman) Leonard

LEONARD, CHARLOTTE A., of Clarkston, passed away on May 24, 2026, at 77 years of age.

Charlotte was the loving wife of the late John Leonard; cherished mother of Matthew (fiancée Sofia) Leonard and the late Daniel Leonard; and proud grandmother of Zachary and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Margaret Merriman, and brothers, Ronald and Mike Merriman.

Born in Detroit to her loving parents, Charles and Margaret (née Ducharme) Charlotte built a successful career as an office manager, dedicating more than 40 years of service to several companies. She was respected for her professionalism, strong work ethic, and ability to keep everything running smoothly.

A faithful member of Bridgewood Church, Charlotte had a compassionate heart, especially for veterans. She devoted many volunteer hours to supporting and assisting veterans, a cause that remained deeply important to her throughout her life.

Charlotte will also be remembered for her lifelong love of horses and the joy she found in riding and competition. She owned horses her entire life and competed in hunter/jumper events well into her 60s, impressing many with her skill, determination, and fearless spirit. She leaves behind her beloved horse, Lucy.

She also loved gardening and found peace and happiness outdoors, surrounded by flowers, animals, and nature.

Charlotte had a wonderful sense of humor and a personality that could never be forgotten. She was stubborn and determined in all the right ways—fiercely independent, fun to be around, and someone who naturally commanded a room. People often said that once you met Charlotte, you immediately fell in love with her spirit, her confidence, and her unmistakable presence.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strength, kindness, independence, and the vibrant life she lived so fully. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11 AM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-CLARKSTON. Private burial will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
