COMSTOCK, CHARLES E. “CHUCK”, of Waterford, passed away on May 29, 2026, at 80 years of age.
Chuck was the loving husband of LouAnn (née Sikklelee) for 54 years; devoted father of Christopher (Melissa) Comstock and Timothy (Angela) Comstock; and proud grandfather of Jacob, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Emma, and Riley. He was the dear brother of Martha (the late Don) Ebeling and Susan (Bob) Cole.
Born in Detroit to Lawrence A. Comstock and Evelyn (née Hawley) Comstock, Chuck graduated from Trenton High School in 1963. He enjoyed a successful 34-year career with IBM, retiring in 2001. He also proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1966 until his retirement as Master Chief in 1996, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to service.
Chuck met the love of his life while repairing a main frame computer. Their first date was a downhill skiing trip to Cadillac, despite the fact that LouAnn had never skied before. That adventurous first outing marked the beginning of a remarkable partnership that would span 54 years.
Gifted with an exceptional mechanical mind, Chuck could fix almost anything. From typewriters and printers to computers, electronics, and much more, he enjoyed solving problems and helping others. His knowledge, patience, and willingness to teach made him a valued mentor to many.
Education was one of Chuck’s greatest passions. He devoted countless hours as an instructor for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, teaching snowmobile safety, boating safety, and off-road vehicle safety courses. He also shared his talents through Waterford School District Adult Education programs, served as a Boy Scout leader, and even taught aerobics classes. Whether in a classroom, on a trail, or in a community program, Chuck found joy in helping others learn and succeed.
Vivacious, outgoing, and endlessly energetic, Chuck approached everything he did with enthusiasm and commitment. He put his heart and soul into every project, organization, and relationship. Among his many interests, snowmobiling held a special place in his heart. He was an active member of the SnomadS, serving both as president, vice president, and treasurer while helping foster friendships and promote safe riding.
Chuck will be remembered for his boundless energy, generous spirit, remarkable ability to teach and fix almost anything, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, educated, and inspired. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD.
