Bryan Smith Obituary

SMITH, BRYAN A., of Waterford, passed away unexpectedly in Chicago on April 3, 2026, at 69 years of age.

Bryan was the loving partner, companion, and best friend of Barbara Allen for 14 years; devoted father of Jason (Kelly) Smith and Justin (Christine) Smith; and proud grandfather of Logan (Kaylee), Hannah, Layla, Jakob, and great-grandfather of Dyna. He was the dear brother of Kriss Smith and Mark (Connie) Smith. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-law’s and numerous lifelong friends.

Born in Pontiac to Dale and Marilynn Smith, Bryan was a 1976 graduate of Waterford Kettering High School. He built a strong work ethic early in life, working many years for NBC Truck Equipment before continuing his career with Oakland County Facilities and Operations, where he later retired.

Bryan also proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Waterford Township Fire Department, demonstrating his willingness to help others and step up when it mattered most. He was a member of the Clarkston Eagles Aerie #3373, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships he built over the years.

Bryan had a deep love for the water and cherished lake life. He spent many happy years living on Long Lake, where he could often be found cruising on his pontoon boat and enjoying peaceful days by the water. He also loved to travel, especially trips to Mexico, and treasured time spent up north at his cabin “Smith’s Creek” in Red Oak, Michigan. While there, one of his favorite stops was Talley's Log Cabin Bar, where good food and good company made for lasting memories.

Bryan had a passion for classic cars, especially enjoying time cruising around in Barb’s1970 Cutlass Convertible—a simple pleasure that brought him great happiness. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing and being outdoors. He also loved his weekly visits with the Taco Tuesday Group.

Known for being honest and straightforward, Bryan was quiet in nature but had a great sense of humor that those closest to him appreciated. He valued simple pleasures, meaningful relationships, and time well spent with family and friends.

Bryan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his steady presence, his love of life on the water, and the many memories he created with those he loved.
