Beverly June (Lane) Hensley

Beverly June Hensley, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025. Born on January 6, 1934, Beverly lived a life full of love, purpose, and a deep devotion to her family and the children whose lives she touched through her work and kindness.

She is survived by her beloved children: Brenda (the late Deryl) Pace, Lynn (Jim) Maynard, Connie (Jeff) Pace, and Vicki (Walt) Talbott. Beverly also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hubert Hensley, whom she married on December 20, 1952. Their marriage was a true partnership filled with love and laughter.

Beverly retired from Montgomery Ward after many years as The Shoe Department Manager only to start her second career working with children as an office assistant at Walt Whitman Elementary School in Pontiac. She worked for many years as a teacher’s aide with Pontiac Schools, where her compassion and steady presence made her a favorite among students and staff alike. She had a special place in her heart for children and was known for gifting “stuffies” to little ones who needed a bit of comfort or encouragement. Her warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on many young lives.

A true homebody, Beverly found joy in simple pleasures. She embraced her role as “bossy bingo queen” with humor and heart, often taking charge of games and gatherings with a twinkle in her eye and a determination to keep things running her way.

Beverly's family and all who knew her will remember her as loving, strong-willed, generous, and endlessly caring. Her life was one of service, laughter, and fierce love.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Coats Funeral Home-Waterford. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery after the service at 1:30 PM.
