Betty Kuehnast, age 81, passed away peacefully October 7, 2024, in Clarkston Michigan.
She was born on August 22, 1943, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, to Alvin and Mildred Brodt. The youngest of five children, she grew up in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, where she made many friends and caught many fish with her father on the Mississippi River.
Betty met Daryl Kuehnast while working at Western Airlines, and they were married in 1967. They made their home in the Twin Cities area and had two sons, Wade Louis and Eric Alvin.
Betty was an avid smiler, which she dispensed to all she met. Family was her favorite target, both her small, male-dominated household in Minnesota and all her family of siblings, parents, cousins, nieces and nephews with whom she enthusiastically visited whenever possible.
Betty and Daryl retired and lived in Arizona for 10 years and then moved their retirement to Florida for another 15 years. They spent retirement visiting family, hosting family at their home and touring the country. And when grandkids started to arrive, they took many trips up north to dote on them.
Betty is survived by her husband of 56 years, Daryl Kuehnast; sons Wade (Joanne) and Eric; grandchildren Millie, Anna, Benjamin and Samuel; sisters Reta Roberts and Carolyn James; and brother, Clarence Brodt (Marsha). She was predeceased by parents Alvin and Mildred Brodt, and sister Nancy Kish.
A graveside service will be conducted for the family at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Lutheran World Relief Quilt Ministry.
