Alice Ida Purves, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at the age of 82. Alice was a long-time resident of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and is remembered for her boundless love, dedication to education, and her warm, caring spirit.
Born on April 17, 1942, in Minto, New Brunswick, Alice was the daughter of Herbert and Louise Brown Dufour.
Alice was a devoted educator for many years, Alice’s passion for teaching inspired countless students. She served as a teacher and later as the principal at Donaldson Hills Elementary in Waterford, Michigan, where she touched the lives of students, faculty, and staff. Her commitment to education was matched only by her love for her students, who adored her in return.
Outside of her professional life, Alice enjoyed many hobbies. She was an avid reader, especially enjoying the works of James Patterson. She also loved knitting and quilting, spending countless hours creating beautiful pieces.
Alice leaves behind her husband, Lynn Neeb, and her children: Lori (Jim) Kaminski, Colin Purves, Kevin (Tammy) Neeb, Keith Neeb, and Kim (Tom) Elsen; her grandchildren: Amber, Taylor, Nicholas, Amie, Leah (Kyle), and Cody (Haley); and great-grandchildren: Cash, Lainey, and Wyatt. She is also survived by her sister, Della Boyd and family. Alice was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Glenn Brown.
Alice’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who shared in her life, supported her, and celebrated her many accomplishments. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
