JOHNSON, ALAN A., of Holly, passed away on May 26, 2026, at 81 years of age.
Alan was the loving husband of Patricia (Perry); devoted father of Kelli (John) Johnson, Julianne (Philip) Fent, and Marcie (Jeff) Vandeputte; and proud grandfather of Katherine (David), Josh, Thomas, Jonathon, Daniel, Anthony, Samantha, Joseph, and Jason. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Madilynn and Axel.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Vietnam era, Alan carried a lifelong dedication to service, education, and family. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Michigan State University and a master’s degree from Oakland University. He went on to teach in the Holly School District for 32 years, retiring in 2002. Throughout his career, Alan impacted countless students with his creativity, humor, and genuine love of teaching.
Alan was a man full of music, song, and joy. He played guitar, sang and performed in a rock n’ roll band, taught guitar lessons, and always seemed to have a song in his heart. Music was woven into who he was, and he shared that gift freely with everyone.
He especially enjoyed being with his grandkids, collecting cards, coins, and spending time outside. Alan had a lifelong love of the Detroit Red Wings and when they played he was fully invested, cheering on his favorite players.
Known for his incredible sense of humor and joyful spirit, Alan brought laughter and light wherever he went. He had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and his love for life was contagious. Above all, Alan treasured his family, who were the center of his world and the source of his greatest pride.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his music, his laughter, his kindness, and the joy he brought to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
