Obituary

William (Bill) Fuentes Chapa

Bill passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Pontiac, Michigan, at the age of 83.

A 1961 graduate of Pontiac Northern High School, Bill dedicated 22 years of service to General Motors as General Stores Department Supervisor. He was widely respected for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and quiet strength.

Beyond his career, Bill was an avid golfer and a lifelong sports enthusiast, but nothing brought him greater happiness than his family. He was the beloved husband of Yolanda Chapa, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Bill was a devoted father to Tabitha (David) Brinson and Melissa (Anthony) Rodriguez, and the ultimate proud Papa to Eliana (Andrew) Brockman, Sophia Brinson, and Halen Brinson. As his grandchildren's biggest fan, he rarely missed a game, or special event and his constant support  and presence on the sidelines meant the world to them.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, William is survived by his siblings: Joe (Lydia) Chapa, Elizabeth Chapa, Elias (Nancy) Chapa, Margaret Sanchez, and Robert (Debbie) Chapa; his sister-in-law, Ruth (Harold) Gearheart; and sisters-in-law, Debra Chapa, Carmen Chapa and brother-in-law Dan (Sherry) Schell, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Guadalupe and Obdulia (Fuentes) Chapa; his parents-in-law, Joaquin Guajardo and Consuelo Garcia Guajardo; his brothers, Richard Chapa and Daniel Chapa; his brother-in-law, Abel (Penny) Guajardo; and his sister-in-law, Jacqueline Schell.

Bill's legacy of love, commitment, and steadfast devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
