Wayne Richard Walter of Waterford, passed away May 19, 2019 at 64 years of age. Loving husband, friend and soul mate of the late Deborah for 37 years; cherished son of the late Marjorie and Robert Walter; father of Michael Walter and Tiffany (Anthony) O'Berry; dearest grandfather of Marty, Cheyenne, Taylor, Jaden, Sierra, and Tonilyn; Wayne was preceded in Death by his brothers William Walter and David Walter. Wayne is survived by his sisters Wendy Walter of Ann Arbor, and Carol Ann Walter of Ypsilanti. Wayne worked as a Systems Engineer for Kmart and Sears for many years. Wayne loved and supported any Detroit sports teams, but his love for sports ran deep. Wayne was a star athlete in high school, but his focus was in basketball. He took a brief break from basketball in high school because he refused to cut his hair, however he loved the sport so much he went back to playing. During his freshman year of college, he unfortunately hurt his knee and was never able to play in the same capacity. Wayne idolized Pete Maravich. He was even Kurt Gibson's Bat Boy for a time. Wayne loved music, attending concerts, and meeting different artists over the years. Wayne was a lover of all animals; however, cats were his favorite. He enjoyed going to garage sales or thrift stores in his free time. Wayne and Deborah were great at winning trips to exotic fun places which only enhanced their love for one another and created great memories to cherish. Wayne was known to be very helpful to his friends and family and would do anything that was asked of him.Visitation:Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD (3141 Sashabaw Rd).
