Wallace "Ron" Rushing, age 76 of Rochester Hills, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was born on July 11, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Wallace E. and Rose (Biggs) Rushing. Ron volunteered for the draft and proudly served in the US Army Infantry 199th Brigade during Vietnam 1967-68. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 1008 and a past member of their honor guard. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time in the mountains of Colorado, hunting, fishing and four wheeling. Ron loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, karate and judo, and collecting guns. He took pride in himself and his things – always making sure to look sharp! Ron will be remembered for his charisma, storytelling, his caring nature, and his patriotism. More than anything, he will be remembered for being one true friend. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sue Rushing; daughter, Angelique (Donny Espinoza) Rushing; stepson, Travis (Emily) Hurt; grandchildren: Jazmyn Espinoza and Marcus Espinoza; siblings: Brenda (Chuck) Fotheringham and Donna (the late Thomas Montgomery) Ross; niece, Jennifer (Jerry) Flewelling, nephew, Erik (Sarah) Fotheringham; great nephews: Zachary Flewelling and Danny Flewelling; great niece, Nola Fotheringham. He was preceded in death by both parents and brother-in-law, Dan Ross. A funeral service will take place at 11:30am on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at COATS FUNERAL HOME – CLARKSTON. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 4-8pm. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
