Adams, Velma M. of Rochester Hills, passed away December 30, 2020 at 65 years of age. Born to William and Emma Lou (nee Daley) Adams in Detroit at Brent General Hospital. Velma attended Treadwell and Priest Elementary, Munger and Wilson Middle Schools and received her GED. She raised her son Christopher Adams whom she loved and adored very much. Velma met and began dating her husband in 1993, and married in 2011. In 2012 Velma received a diagnosis of lung and throat cancer. Doctors gave her six months to live but she surpassed that, battled as long she could, and in 2019 would mark one year of cancer free. In 2020 her cancer returned. Until the very end, she never gave up. She was a strong fighter and the cancer would take her December 30, 2020. Velma is preceded in death by her mother, Emma Lou and father, William; sisters, Dorothy Hildreth and Brenda Adams; and nephew, Steven Kaminski. Velma is survived by her husband, Raymond Champagne; son, Christopher (Jose Diaz) Adams; niece Emma Adams; sisters, Michelle (Dennis Colegrove) Adams, and Donna (John) Henzel; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
