WILSON, THOMAS JAMES, age 80 of Pontiac, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. He was born on July 2, 1943 in Muskegon to parents Donald and Rose Marie (Velesz) Wilson. Tom proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for three years. After the service he worked as a big machine mechanic and worked on everything from the railroad to big trucks. His professional work overflowed into his hobbies and he loved to rebuild cars and was an all around Mr. Fix It in his spare time. He took pride in his home and making his outdoor space his sanctuary. Tom had a tough exterior but was soft on the inside. He had a huge heart and was passionate about his pets and even helped with the neighborhood cat population through the TNR program. More than anything, Tom cherished his family and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Tom is survived by his loving wife and companion of over 40 years, Susan Barrett; children: Christina (Chris) Kometer and Eligah (Brenda) Vires Jr.; grandsons: Jonathan and Eli III (Jennifer); granddaughters, or Guardian Angels as he liked to call them: Amanda (Jeff) and Meaghan; great grandchildren: Jacob, Maddy, Gil, Matéo, Grace, Kle'Shaya, Tyler, and Lucas; brothers: Bruce (Martha) and Rick (Kathy); brother-in-law and best friend, Bud; several nieces and nephews; and we can't forget the dogs, cats, and all the fish. He was preceded in death by both parents, and sisters: Valerie, Donna, and Sandra. A funeral service will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at COATS FUNERAL HOME – WATERFORD. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 11am until 12:30pm.Those desiring, may make a memorial contribution to Tunnel to Towers foundation in honor of Tom.
