Obituary

Theodore "Ted" Arvant, affectionately known to family and friends as "Ted Bear," 83, a longtime resident of Waterford, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, with family at his side.

Ted's life was defined by love, loyalty, and enduring commitment. In 1967, he married his beloved wife, Patricia Ann (née Louw), beginning a beautiful 58-year journey of marriage and partnership. Though Ted entered the family by marriage, he quickly became a true brother in heart. Their lifelong family bond was anchored decades ago at Ted and Pat's wedding, marking the start of nearly six decades of shared milestones, deep laughter, and unbreakable friendships.

Born to Theodore and Muriel Arvant on November 18, 1942, Ted grew up with a strong sense of duty and craftsmanship. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before transitioning into a civilian career where his precision and talent truly shined. Ted spent nearly forty years as a dedicated Model Maker for Chrysler and General Motors, helping shape the automotive world with his incredible skill while raising his family in Michigan.

Outside of his professional life, Ted brought that same passion and focus to his favorite pastimes. He was an avid league bowler and golfer, spending countless hours on the lanes and greens enjoying the competition and the camaraderie of his friends.

Ted's greatest joy, however, was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Ann Arvant; his children, Jon Arvant and Adriana Retman (and her husband, Brett); his sister, Debbie Brevick; and his cherished grandchildren, Michael Rudd and Nikolas Arvant. He also leaves behind a large network of loving extended family of nieces and nephews as well as many lifelong friends who will miss his wisdom, warmth, and companionship. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Theodore and Muriel.
