STEWART, STEPHEN DOUGLAS, age 79 of Clarkston, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022. He was born on September 24, 1942 in Pontiac, Michigan to parents James and Marjorie Stewart. Stephen graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1960 and then went on to enlist in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force on a Friday, and started at General Motors the following Monday where he worked as an engineer within the truck and bus division until his retirement in 2000. Stephen met his loving wife, Sharlene, at Teds, and they married soon after in 1964.  His love for woodworking led him to build the family home and many furniture pieces inside of it. He also loved remote control airplanes, but loved his grandchildren above all else. Stephen is survived by his wife: Sharlene Stewart; children: Stephen (Dawna) Stewart, and David (Teri) Stewart; grandchildren: Kyle (Lupe) Stewart, Daniel Stewart, and Christopher Stewart; brother: James (Sue) Stewart. He was preceded in death by both parents, grandchild Austin Stewart, and brother Bruce Stewart. A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Monday, March 7, 2022 at COATS FUNERAL HOME – CLARKSTON. Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 2-6 pm. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in Stephen's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project and/or St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
