Obituary

ppassed away December 19, 2017 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Janice Richards for 18 wonderful years, Stan is survived by his sister, Maxine (Robert) Johnson and his children Dani (Eric) Liblang, Randall (Mary) Kurzman, Jaime (Tammy) Kurzman and Amanda (Tony Francavilla) Kurzman and his step-children Steve (Leah) Taylor and Jayson (Jennifer) Taylor. Proud grandfather of Sarah and Andrew and step-grandfather of Glorianne, Justin, Amber, Ashley, Jordan, Kelsey, Adam, Jessica, Jacob, and Joseph, Stan is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends and is the beloved son of the late Harry and late Ethel Kurzman. Stan is preceded in death by his ex-wife, Margaret Lord Kurzman (neacute;e Miller). A former Army Officer, Stan graduated with a B.A. in journalism from Michigan State University in 1953, working as a journalist for the Times Herald in Port Huron before trying his hand in the cement business. In 1966, Stan earned a juris doctorate cum laude from Detroit College of Law and he practiced law until his retirement in 2015. Stanrsquo;s interest in journalism continued and in 2004, he served on the editorial board for the Oakland Press as a community representative. Stan had a passion for public service and education, serving on the Waterford Board of Education for 34 years and later as a Director of the Educational Excellence Foundation in Santa Maria, CA. Stanrsquo;s dedication to public service, his family and friends provides a rich source of fond memories and inspiration.
