APONTE, SALVADOR of Waterford, went to be with his beloved Jesus on January 3, 2023 at 90 years of age. Loving husband of Cherry for 65 years; dear father of Cynthia (Tony) Hinojosa, Salvador Jay (Lois) Aponte, Thomas (Toni) West, Bradley Aponte, Sherrill (Dale) Hutchinson, Gwendolyn (Garner) Higgins, the late Clayton Lane, and the late Jeffrey Aponte; grandpa, papa, or peachy to 26 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren; brother of Annie Irazarry, Graciliana Aponte, Anaida Aponte, Luis Aponte, Edwin Aponte, Jorge Aponte, and the late Ana Aponte, the late Graciliano Aponte, and the late Isreal Aponte. Born in Puerto Rico to Salvador and Herminia Aponte, Salvador came to Michigan at age 18 to work on the farms. He would soon hire in with GM and retire in 1992 after 26 years of service. Salvador was a wonderful hard working husband, father, and grandfather often working two jobs to support his growing family. He was very proud of his vegetable garden that he tended and watched daily and enjoyed the many cruises he took with his lovely bride. A good cook, he was proud to teach his wife and his children to cook authentic Puerto Rican food. His love and devotion to his family will be dearly missed forever. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Oakland Woods Baptist Church. (5628 Maybee Road, Clarkston, MI)  There will be luncheon immediately following the service at the church.
