(nee Newman) of Waterford, 90 years of age, passed away December 13, 2017, six weeks after her beloved husband of 68 years, Henry 'Hank' Karwas; beloved mother of Mark Erwin Karwas, Tucson, AZ, Marta Suzanne (Gary) Slocum, Lake Ann, MI and Marcia Ruth (Bobbi Bonace) Karwas, Lake Angelus, MI; cherished grandmother of Nicklaus (Jessica) Karwas Slocum and Joseph (Cynthia Brandon) Karwas Slocum; special great grandmother of Joshua, Grace, and Audrey Slocum. Preceded in death by parents, Ward and Della Newman; siblings, Wilma (Lyle) Saum, Max (Marge) Newman, Erwin (Betty) Newman, Wesley (Thelma) Newman, and Ward (Maxine) Newman; niece Ruth Ann Robinson, nephew John Saum, and great nephew Michael Saum. Survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who will all cherish memories of the lake and sliding parties. Survived by brother in law Fred (Wanda) Karwas. Preceded in death by in laws Charles and Antoinette Karwas and brother in law, Richard Joseph Karwas. Ruth was a graduate of Pontiac High School and worked for GM and Waterford Public Schools. She enjoyed golf, bridge, and family gatherings at the lake.
