SPARKS, RUSSELL "IRONMAN", age 65 of Pontiac, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021. He was born on June 12, 1956 in Pontiac. Russ, or the "Beard of Wisdom" as his co-workers called him, retired from General Motors after 43.5 years of dedicated service. When he wasn't working, he was an avid football and baseball fan and enjoyed watching old Westerns and car shows on TV. Russ is survived by his loving wife of five years, Connie Sparks; children: Corey (Shannon) Sparks, Matt (Deanna) Sparks, Jeff (Melissa) Sparks, Curtis Pursell, Jr., Jason Pursell, Kristin Pursell, Ciarra Adams, and Tyler Housholder; 22 grandchildren including his special ones Tanniya & Elijah; siblings: Jean, Betty, Rose, Diane, and Mike; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents. A funeral service will take place at 11am on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at COATS FUNERAL HOME – WATERFORD. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 1-8pm. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society in honor of Russ.
