Obituary

Rose Marie Simmons, of Waterford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 74 years of age. Rose was born on February 26, 1952, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to her loving parents, Kenneth and Francis Marie Griffin (née Vincencetti).

After graduating from Sault Area High School, Rose continued her education at Pontiac Business Institute. Rose began her greatest adventure as a mother, raising three wonderful children. Throughout her life, she was a woman of many talents and trades. She worked as a waitress, in atriums, as a seamstress, caregiver, and in many other roles. No matter what she was doing, Rose was hardworking, caring, and always willing to help others. She later met the love of her life, Frank Wray Simmons. The two were married on November 26, 1993, and together they lovingly blended their two families. Their life together was filled with love, family, and countless cherished memories. Frank preceded her in death. Rose was an excellent cook and took great pride in her Italian heritage. She was especially known for making homemade pasta completely from scratch. Her love of cooking extended even to those with four legs—her beloved dog, Coco, a half-Beagle and half-Bluetick, was fortunate enough to enjoy some of Rose's special cooking too. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and had a special love for animals. She adored her grandson's Labrador, Earl, and was a devoted pet lover throughout her life. Her greatest joy, however, was simply spending time with the people she loved. Rose was truly the "mom of the neighborhood," and her door was always open. Her home was a welcoming place where family, friends, and neighbors always knew they were welcome. Rose dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to be with them. She was also a devoted Detroit Lions fan. On game days, family would gather at her home to watch the Lions play, and Rose made sure everyone had their own personal large pizza—often ordered from Shan and Jack's or Guido's when she was in the Waterford area. These game-day gatherings became treasured family traditions filled with food, laughter, and time together.

Rose leaves behind her loving children, Trina Hatcher (fiancé Matthew Thibert), Arthur Sparkman, and Samantha (Brad) Johnson; grandchildren, Zachary, Colton, Michelle, Rachel (Chris), Bry, Jonathon, and Jessica (Tim); great-grandchildren, CJ, Carter, Skyler, Kash, Noah, Theo, and Goose; and siblings, Kenny, Sharon, Jim, Donnie (Juanna), and MaryAnn (Ronald). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Wray Simmons; her parents, Kenneth and Francis Marie Griffin; sisters-in-law, Marsha and Net; and her beloved fur baby, Coco.
