Roderick (Rod) Joseph Gillis, Jr., age 83, of Waterford, MI passed away on Thursday, October 5th, 2023. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Sharon Marie Scholten Gills; his parents, Roderick Joseph Gillis, Sr. and Frances Dorothy Meegan Morin; and brothers, Duke Gillis and Tom Morin.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy Gillis of Waterford; his children, Carrie (Brian) Karasiewicz of Ferndale and David (Cassie Johnson) Gillis of Ferndale; his siblings, Richard (Jennie) Morin of Acton, ME and RoseAnn (Tom) Bailey of Nashua, NH as well as numerous nieces and nephews who knew him as "Uncle Zeke", and a host of extended family.

Rod was a native of Massachusetts and longtime resident of Michigan. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years where he traveled the United States and world. His recruiting experience with the USAF eventually lead him to Metro Detroit where he worked at Contract Professionals, Inc. in Waterford for more than 20 years. He will be dearly missed by all.
