of Pontiac, died Monday, June 12, 2017 at 92 years of age. Beloved husband of 51 years to the late Margot. Loving father of Robert, Raymond, Daniel, Rosa (Fredwin) Carr, Kathleen (Gary) Peltier and the late Jimmy; proud grandfather of Randy, Tracy, Robert, Daniel, Melissa, Melanie, Jamie, Jonathan, Chad, Jason, Jeremy, Justin, and Michael; great grandfather of Randy, Sean, Sabrina, Michael, Nicole, Dallas, Breanna, Mariah, Zoe, Amarea, Ryan, Kayden, Brooklyn, Josiah, and the late Danny. He was preceded in death by his siblings Betty May, Tressie, Henry and Oneal. Bob was the youngest of 5 children and came from a poor family. He started working with his dad at 8. He worked for Tennessee Valley Authority, Alabama Coal, and picked cotton. He enlisted in the Army in World War II and was stationed in Germany where he met his wife, Margot. He then went to carpentry school in Tennessee on a GI Bill. Around that time the automotive industry was starting up so he moved his family to Michigan. After being laid off several times, he started working in asphalt and eventually started his own company called New Way Asphalt which he owned for almost 50 years. Bob loved golf, woodworking, deep sea fishing, puzzles, gardening, shuffleboard and playing cards. He played golf until he was 88 and in his 70's could still play 36 holes with no problem. Robert was a great cook who made wonderful potato soup and the best pancake breakfast that will be missed. Hewas corny and could be very silly as he tried to make you laugh while dancing a jig like Mr. Bojangles. He loved singing country music songs on long road trips. Robert was loved by many family and friends and he will be greatly missed.
