Obituary

Robert Curtis Elliott, PhD, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, educator, and faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior, surrounded by the love of his family, after a life well lived.

Born on May 21, 1929, in Battle Creek, Michigan, Robert was the son of Thomas and Mabel (Johnson) Elliott. He attended Battle Creek public schools and graduated from Carson Long Military Academy. He began his college education at Bob Jones University, but his studies were interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served as a surveyor with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Following his honorable discharge, Robert earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of South Dakota. It was there that he met the love of his life, Donnette Osterberg, whom he married on August 2, 1959, in Salem, South Dakota. Together they built a joyful life and shared 65½ years of marriage.

Robert pursued graduate education with a deep commitment to lifelong learning. He earned a Doctor of Education from Michigan State University and later a PhD in Educational Administration from Walden University.

He dedicated more than 30 years to the Waterford School District, serving as an elementary school principal at several schools. He is especially remembered for his leadership in developing the district's Head Start program and for serving as the inaugural director of the Stepanski Center.

A man of quiet strength and enduring faith, Robert found joy in reading, spending time with family, and cheering on his grandchildren at their many events. He and Donnette cherished 21 winters together in Sarasota, Florida, forming lasting friendships and enjoying the warmth of the sun and community.

Robert was a long-time member of Woodside Bible Church, where he lived out his faith with humility and grace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dawn Davis (Joe), and his infant daughter.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife Donnette; his brother Thomas Elliott (Diane); his children Todd Elliott (Lisa), Staci Dennis (Brian), Sherri Henry (Andrew), and Beth Munoz (Marco); 12 treasured grandchildren; and 4 precious great-grandchildren.

Robert's life was a testimony of faith, service, and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Private burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. A memorial service with military honors will be at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to COATS FUNERAL HOME-CLARKSTON. To post a tribute, visit www.CoatsFuneralHome.com.
