Robert "Bob" Bernie Cathers, 83, of Sterling Heights, passed away on December 20, 2025. He was born on July 7, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, and lived a life rich in faith, family, and service to others.

Bob was a man who cherished both the simple and meaningful joys of life. He loved fishing, hunting, working through crossword puzzles, and creating with his hands through wood carving. His skill and creativity were recognized during his career at Chrysler, where his hand carvings were featured in company newsletters, and he was honored with a blue ribbon award for his work. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time in his home garden, where he patiently tended his plants and found peace in the quiet beauty of nature.

A devoted mentor and leader, Bob dedicated much of his life to helping young people grow. He was actively involved in the Scouts, coached youth sports, and faithfully served as "Commander Bob" for the Royal Rangers at his local church for 15 years. His guidance, encouragement, and steady example left a lasting impression on many. Bob was also a member of the Detroit 59ers, spending time in the Alaskan wilderness. He was widely respected, deeply admired, and truly loved by all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Faye Cathers; his children, Chrissy (Tony) Cathers-Biela, Liz Cathers, and Robert (Tricia) Cathers; and his grandchildren, Nick Biela, Nora Biela, Evan Biela, Josh (Jessica) Coll, Jacob (Hannah) Coll, Jonathan (Erica) Cathers, and Justin Cathers. He was blessed with great-grandchildren Jonathan Jr., Alayna, Candor, and Lorraine, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his nephew Jason (Melissa) and their children Taylor, Kyla, and Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie and Lillian Cathers, and his brother, Jon Cathers.

Bob will be remembered for his generous heart, quiet strength, and unwavering commitment to his faith and family. His legacy of love and service will continue to live on in the lives of all those he touched.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Sojourn Church, 37680 Van Dyke Ave, Sterling Heights, MI from 1:00-3:00 PM.
