DUSTMAN, ROBERT E. "BOB" of Auburn Hills, passed unexpectedly on July 7, 2022 at 76 years of age. Loving husband of Mary Alice "M.A." (nee Roemer) Dustman for 26 years; dear father of James E. (Angjlena) Dustman; grandfather of Madison, Jalyn, Jordan, and Justin; brother of David Dustman. Also survived by his beloved cats, Dusty and Dora, and his dog Sadie Bear. Bob served 17 years as Director of Media and Communications and chief spokesman for former Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. Prior to joining the Patterson Administration in 1993, Bob had a distinguished and successful 25 year career as a radio and television journalist. As a graduate of Central Michigan University, he worked at the campus radio station and commercial radio stations in Mt. Pleasant, Midland, and Alma. After graduation, he was a sports director at the local TV station in Cadillac and later in Grand Rapids, and briefly as sports anchor in Battle Creek before coming to Detroit area in 1972. He worked as news director for WPON in Pontiac and news anchor for two radio stations. His list of accomplishments are too numerous to mention. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed writing; reading; traveling; time outdoors; walking; a good workout; good food; a good beer; and good weather. He will be dearly missed by his beloved family, friends, his cats, and his dog. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 3 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME-CLARKSTON, 8909 Dixie Hwy. Family will receive friends Sunday 12 PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to William Booth Legal Aid Clinic.
