Obituary

Richard M. Porter, age 95, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 8, 1931, Richard lived a full and meaningful life devoted to his faith, family, career, and the pursuits he enjoyed most

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Beatrice Porter; his brothers, Robert Porter and Ronnie Porter; his sister, Alice June Anderson; and his son, Randy Porter.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene Porter; his daughter, Kelle Porter; and his son, David Porter (Beth). He was a proud grandfather to Philip Porter (Emily), Joshua Baker (Jennett), Kristin Baker, Ryan Baker (Carlee), Richard Porter, Jessica Porter and step daughter Dale Diane Denney. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Olive Porter, Greyson Porter, Benjamin Baker, Riley Baker, Ava Brewer and Kimber Baker, all of whom brought him immense joy.

Richard served during the Korean War and then went on to dedicate more than 50 years of his professional life as a mechanical engineer in the automotive industry. His work ethic, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence earned the respect of colleagues and friends throughout his career.

Outside of work, Richard enjoyed spending time fishing, following NASCAR racing, and cheering on his beloved Detroit Tigers. Wintering in Arizona for many years with his friends that had moved there. These interests provided countless happy memories with family and friends throughout the years.

Above all, Richard was a Christian man whose faith guided his life. He found strength and comfort in his relationship with the Lord and lived with kindness, integrity, and devotion to those he loved. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now with his Lord and Savior.

Richard's legacy of faith, love, hard work, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
