GRZELA, PHYLLIS ANN, of Waterford, formerly of Allen Park, passed away Sunday May 31, 2020 at 73 years of age. She was born in Wayne, Michigan on May 24, 1947, the beloved daughter to the late Ernest and Irene May. She is the loving mother of Kimberly (Jerry) Ross and Daniel (Kim Perry) Grzela; dearest grandmother of Kody Ross; dear sister of Jerry May, Sheree May, Caroline (Tom) Burgess, Ernie May, Doug (the late Cindy) May, Joe May and the late Phillip May. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family. Phyllis graduated cum laude of her class from Wayne Memorial High School in 1965, and later attended Michigan State University. She worked for Michigan Bell in the late 60's and then went on to work for many years with John Hancock Insurance. Growing up on a farm Phyllis was always fond of animals; she loved horses from an early age and was an avid equestrian in her youth with the 4-H club. In the later years became very attached to the family dogs. Phyllis loved spending time with her family, and always valued a good education, cherishing time spent with her grandson Kody, working with him on his homework. She was truly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A special, heartfelt thank you goes out to her loving sisters, Sheree and Carol. Carol helped her get to countless medical appointments, and later opened her home to care for Phyllis. Sheree came in from out of state to assist in caring for Phyllis. They both provided daily care, and towards the end of Phyllis' journey, stayed with her around -the- clock to ensure her comfort and peace. Their selfless dedication to caring for Phyllis attested to the unbreakable bond that they all shared.
