Paul David Pointer of Waterford, MI passed away just shy of his 93 birthday on September 18, 2019, at the age of 92.Paul was preceded in death by his wife Edna Kathleen Pointer (Pierson) who passed away just three years earlier at the age of 88. They, at the time of her passing, had been married 72 years. Paul and Edna were preceded in death by one of their four sons, Gregory Paul Pointer (24) who passed away in 1983.He and Edna were the parents of six children, Sandra (Sandy) Kathleen Popa (Pointer), Larry David Pointer, Jeffrey (Jeff) Lynn Pointer, Gregory Paul Pointer, Eric Craig Pointer, Angela Rae Schwartz (Pointer). They also were blessed with ten Grandchildren, eighteen Great Grandchildren, and five Great-Great-Grandchildren - thirty-nine in all. He knew love, and he loved. In the mid-1930s, as a youngster, he traveled throughout the South with his father, Carroll David Pointer, who was a Nazarene Minister. He served honorably in the Navy after the liberation of France and often spoke of his time there. He retired from Orchard Lake Country Club 30 years ago. Since then, he has spent most days with family and rooting for his beloved Detroit Tigers, which has gone for the most part unreciprocated. He also loved gardening and sharing stories with friends and family.A joint memorial service will be held for both Paul and Edna at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy on Friday, September 27, 2019, at 11:00 AM ESTInstead of flowers, please donate to the National Kidney Foundation.
