Paul Francis Daniloff, age 81, died June 11, 2023 in his home in Waterford, Michigan after a prolonged illness.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Daniloff (nee Kane).

Paul was born in Pennsylvania on December 13, 1941 to George Daniloff and his wife Frances, who died in childbirth. Paul was raised by his "Buba" and "Jedda" (grandparents Estina and John Mischenkoff).

Paul is survived by children Michael (Anissa) Daniloff, Colleen (Corey) Worthen and Bill Schlacht (Tiffany Bond). He was a much loved "Pops" to Alan Daniloff, and beloved "Buppa" by Emma, Addison, Natalie and J.P. Worthen, as well as by Billy III and Margaret Schlacht.

Paul is survived by his sister, Patricia (George) Burcin and preceded in death by his  brothers, Mark (Eileen) Daniloff and Leon Daniloff.  Paul was preceded in death by Nancy (nee Parrell), his wife of 25 years.

Paul is survived by his sisters-in-law, Kathy (Dan) Lochmann and Janelle (Nick) Rolando. In addition, multiple nieces and nephews as well as multiple cousins, all over the country.

Buba and Jedda immigrated from Russia to the US, raised 9 children and took in Paul as a newborn. Being raised by elderly grandparents in a small coal-mining town with other poor European immigrants, left lasting impressions on Paul's character, instilled in Paul a strong work ethic, the importance of devotion to marriage and family responsibilities as well as, most notably, his rock-solid faith in God.

Paul honorably served in the U.S. Army from June 1962 to November 1965, stationed in Texas as well as Okinawa, Japan.  Paul  saw combat in the Vietnam Conflict as a Missile  Equipment Specialist.

Paul loved and provided for his family with Nancy for many years at their home in Clinton Township.  Throughout her long illness, he managed life as a single parent and as a caregiver to Nancy.     After she passed, Paul continued to raise Michael and Colleen for a number of years.

In 1997, through solid manipulation and sneaky underhandedness by Colleen and Sherry's best friend, Michele Lombardo (d. 2011), orchestrated the eventual blind date at which Paul and Sherry met.

That chance introduction began the second phase of life for both of the widowed single parents.  In no time they were together in Clinton Township and building a blended family with two young adults and a pre-teenager.  Paul and Sherry began a lifelong love and were married in 1998.

Throughout these many years Paul was employed at General Motors in skilled trades as a machine repairman, where he worked at the Pontiac Truck & Bus, Pontiac Assembly, GM Tech Center and other facilities.  Paul enjoyed the comradery of his coworkers and the feeling of accomplishment from keeping operations running smoothly.  After a well-deserved retirement from GM, Paul settled into a quiet life with Sherry.

Marrying Sherry, with her preteen son, moved Paul back into the challenging role of raising kids.  Paul met that challenge, and was pleased to see Bill grow into adulthood and bring Maggie into his heart and home, followed years later by little Billy III.

Soon after Paul and Sherry married, they were pleased to witness Michael marry Anissa and grow into their own family.  Paul had time and opportunity to enjoy watching his eldest grandson, Alan, as he gradually grew into a young man, tall in stature and strong in character and intellect.

Paul felt blessed to see his daughter Colleen marry and he welcomed Corey and two beautiful stepdaughters into the fold.  As the years unfolded, Colleen and Corey brought more challenges and much joy into Paul's heart by their decision to become foster parents – a role that included no small amount of bureaucracy and even more uncertainty.  Paul stood by his expanding family during these difficult processes.  Paul's strength was rewarded one day when, opening the door, he first met the infant Natalie Rose waiting on the doorstep, Paul's life became all the more rich as Natalie grew and was eventually formally adopted into the family.  Similarly, Paul has been stalwart in his support of the fostering, and future adoption, of the family's youngest grandson, Baby J.P.

In 2020, on the eve of the pandemic shutdown, Paul and Sherry moved to their home in Waterford to be closer to extended family.  Their grandchildren have graced this home with birthdays, sleepovers, plus lots of noise, laughter and love.

As joyous as these family events were, Paul and his family struggled with his ongoing cardiovascular related illnesses.  As his illness progressed, he sought the help of VA healthcare due to his service in Vietnam.  Paul was certainly not a fan of hospitals or rehab facilities, and he made the difficult choice to enter into home-hospice care for the remainder of his illness.  Perhaps this was one of the family's hardest - and best – decisions.  Family members were blessed to provide hands on daily care for Paul.  And Paul was blessed to allow himself to receive that care from his children and sisters and brothers-in-law and then from the skilled and compassionate hands of Linda and Portia from North Oakland Caregivers and Rachel and Brittney from The Medical Team Hospice.

In his final few months, Paul made sure his entire posse of family and caregivers had an opportunity to become enriched by the abundant programming we watched on the Game Show Network™.
