Patricia Louise (Vines) Loomis, 87, of Waterford, Michigan, passed away on July 29, 2025. She was born November 1, 1937, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to the late Victor and Pauline (Monks) Vines.
Pat grew up in Centerville, Ohio, and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1957 through the "Teachers 2-Year Cadet Program." She moved to Michigan in 1962 and taught in the Waterford School District, primarily at Riverside and Cooley Elementary Schools, until her retirement in 1999.
A devoted member of Central United Methodist Church in Waterford for over 50 years, Pat sang in the choir and was active in the United Methodist Women group. It was through the choir that she met her husband, Donald Loomis. They were married on June 25, 1965, in Englewood, Ohio, and shared 37 loving years together until Donald's passing in 2002.
Pat had a passion for gardening—especially dahlias, roses, and lilies—and was known for baking delicious pies. She was also a dedicated reader and especially enjoyed romance novels.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia (John) Loomis-Abell-Torvi, Kathleen Loomis, and Donal (Jennie Spenner) Loomis; grandchildren, James Abell IV, Jesse Abell, Jeremiah Abell, and Gabriel Loomis; great-grandchildren, Amelia and Seamus Abell; and sister, Margaret (Lauri) Kallio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Loomis, and sister, Sally Wasson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Coats Funeral Home, 3141 Sashabaw Rd., Waterford, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. Services will follow on Monday, August 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 3882 Highland Rd., Waterford Township, with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Jack Mannschrek will be officiating.
