PASTOR WILLIAM D. MERRELL of Waterford, went to be with the Lord April 6, 2021 at 75 years of age. Loving husband of Nancy (nee Deason) for 52 years; dear father of Melanie (Jerry) Lintz and Marcus (Julie) Merrell; grandfather of Josiah, Sabrina, Jori (Dan), Andrew (fiancée Taylor), Kylie (Sam), and Markie (Zac); great grandfather of Emma, Natalie, and Tobias. Preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Shirley (nee Limbach) Merrell, and sisters Carol Dell and Patricia Griffith; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bill's first calling was in Granville, OH in 1971 and he received his second calling to Waterford in 1980. He would pastor Peace Lutheran Church retiring in 2013 after 33 years of devoted service. He was honored to serve as chaplain for the Waterford Police Department and for Oakland County Police Academy. He was active with other pastors in forming the One Heart Network serving the community youth and Shop with a Cop program. In his spare time he enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels; marathons in early years and walking in later years; an avid sports fan, Tigers, Lions, Red Wings. Most importantly he was a family man. His gentle presence and reassurance will be missed by his family, his church, and his community. It was Pastor's wishes to be cremated and laid to rest at a later date. A memorial visitation to celebrate Pastor's life will be held in the church gym.
