He married the former Anne Deane on May 6, 1951 in New York, NY.He is survived by his loving wife, Anne; five children, Thomas (Nancy) McCarter, Edmund (Suzanne) McCarter, James McCarter, Mary Grace (Wayne Barry) McCarter and John (Diana) McCarter; 15 grandchildren Monica (Justin) Colassaco, Brian McCarter, Owen Daniel-McCarter, Gillis McCarter, Michael McCarter, John McCarter, Anne Marie Barry, Thomas McCarter, Catherine Barry, Sarah McCarter, John Barry, Jack McCarter, Grace McCarter, Rose McCarter and Matthew McCarter; and three great-grandchildren, Calvin McCarter, Lexi McCarter and Easton Colassaco. Mr. McCarter was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He served in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He began his career with General Motors in 1956 as an electrical engineer at AC Spark Plug in Milwaukee, WI. He was particularly proud of his work on the development of guidance systems for the MACE and Gemini Missile programs and the Apollo Space Missions. He fondly remarked
