Obituary

Nancy Rose McNamara, age 81, passed away on April 9, 2026. She was born on May 6, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, to her loving parents, John and Mary Krzyzak (née Rozum), who were of proud Polish heritage. She was raised in Detroit, where she attended and graduated from high school before continuing her education. Nancy earned an Associate of Arts in Gerontology from Wayne County Community College and later received her Master of Social Work from Wayne State University. Nancy met the love of her life, George William "Bill" McNamara, and together they shared 49 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, companionship, and devotion. A woman of deep faith, Nancy was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, where she faithfully prayed the rosary and found strength and comfort. She was also passionate about giving back, proudly serving with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 377 in support of veterans and their families. Nancy dedicated over 30 years of her professional life as a counselor, helping others with compassion, wisdom, and care. Her kindness and dedication made a lasting impact on all those she served. In her free time, Nancy found great joy in traveling, especially on cruises. She will be greatly missed by her two close friends Maria and Tom. Later in life, she enjoyed simple pleasures such as car rides and outings to Costco and Meijer. She was also a devoted pet owner to her beloved "fur baby," Princess, who adored her and no one else and she let you know it too. Nancy is survived by her beloved niece, Marey (Scott) Edwards; her great-niece, Lilly; her great-nephew, Blake; and her cousin, Rosemary Sandel. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Bill; her sister, Patsy (Johnny); and her parents, John and Mary. Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Coats Funeral Home – Waterford, 3141 Sashabaw Road.
