Mitzi Doris Seifert (nee Bassette), age 87 of Waterford, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 after a brief month long illness. She was born on July 27, 1935 in Helena, Montana to late parents Harold Alfred and Doris Delilah Bassette. She was a lifelong member of Community of Christ Church and held the office of Priest. She attended the Waterford Congregation. She had previously been active in Gaylord, Grayling, and Tacoma, Washington Congregations. She played the organ for many services and many weddings. She was active for many years in Family and Community Education (formerly Extension Homemakers) and held various offices on both local and county level. She loved to travel and while she never got to Australia like she wanted to, she did get to Germany, Austria, and most of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. She was an avid crafter and loved sewing. She knitted and crocheted and made many hats to give to those in need. Her biggest achievement, according to her, was the raising of her four children: Cheryl, John, Mark, and Alan. She is survived by her loving husband, having been married 67 (almost 68) years, John "Jack" Seifert; her children: Cheryl Seifert, John (Dusty) Seifert, Mark (Kim) Seifert, and Alan (Maureen) Seifert; her five grandchildren: Alicia, Erik, Matthew, Laura, and Samantha. A funeral service will take place at 3pm on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Waterford Community of Christ, 1990 Crescent Lake Road, Waterford. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 3-8pm at COATS FUNERAL HOME – WATERFORD and again on Sunday at church, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2pm. Private interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Family requests any memorial donations to be made to Waterford Community of Christ.
