Loving husband of Shirley for 66 years; dear father of Melvin (Ann) Dorries, Randy Dorries and Deanna Kay; grandfather of 6; great grandfather of 7; preceded in death by 1 grandchild; brother of Marion Phelps and Jim Dorries. Melvin was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from Pontiac Motors as a design engineer in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was a life time member of Joslyn Presbyterian Church where he met his wife Shirley. Melvin was an accomplished machinist, woodworker and motorcycle enthusiast. From his shop in his garage he passed on his skills to his sons allowing one his livelihood as a Hurdy-Gurdy Crafter and the other his business Dorries Machine Shop. Arial; color: #9a8979;
