Obituary

MAYES, MAUREEN E., of Oxford, passed away on June 12, 2026, at 63 years of age.

Maureen was the loving wife of Robert "Bob" Mayes for 39 wonderful years; dear sister of Matthew Manion and Jean (Pat) Burke; and beloved sister-in-law of Dan and Pam Mayes. She was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Manion.

Born in 1962 in Pontiac to her loving parents, Henry T. and Patrice (née Zimmerman) Manion, Maureen was a 1980 graduate of Our Lady of the Lakes High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Walsh College. She enjoyed a successful career with Flex Automotive, where she was respected for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Maureen was happiest outdoors and would much rather be working or playing outside than spending time indoors. She found joy in tending her yard and flower beds, and she loved being on the water boating and kayaking. Time spent at the family cabin up north brought her peace and happiness, creating memories she treasured throughout her life.

Animals held a special place in Maureen's heart. Horses and dogs were among her greatest passions, and she had a deep appreciation for the companionship and unconditional love they provided.

A woman of strong faith and generosity, Maureen lived a life marked by kindness and compassion. She was charitable in spirit and faithful in practice, beginning each day with Scripture and reading her Bible daily. Her quiet devotion and steadfast beliefs were a source of strength and guidance throughout her life.

Maureen will be remembered for her love of nature, her compassionate heart, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures. Though she will be deeply missed, her family and friends take comfort in the many beautiful memories she leaves behind and in the faith that sustained her throughout her journey.
