Midland, MI and Lakeland, FL
Mary Lee Cain (Voller), 82, of Lakeland, FL, passed away peacefully and into the arms of Jesus on December 22, 2021.
Mary Lee was born in Manton, MI to Merlyn and Mabel Voller on July 6, 1939. She went to high school at Beecher High School where she participated in several sports and where she was selected as homecoming queen. She also spent time as an exchange student in Baden-Baden, Germany. After high school, she went to Spring Arbor College and earned her degree in Education from Roberts Wesleyan College. She also earned her Master's Degree from Oakland University. She spent the better part of 30 years teaching in the Beecher school district. After retirement, she and her husband, Duane, split time between Alpena, Michigan and Lakeland, Florida where years of priceless family memories were created.
Mary Lee is survived by the loving community of Light and Life Campground and her husband of 60 years, Duane Cain, and their three children and spouses: Cheri Lucio (Pete), Craig Cain (Brenda) and Scott Cain (Lynn), and their children (Kyle, Trent, Dakota, Justin, Courtney, Sarah and Carson). Mary Lee is also survived by her 3 siblings – Diane Nowlin, Doug Voller and Vickie Banks. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merlyn Voller and her grandson Cody Cain. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she reached but never met.
Visitation will be held at 10am to 11:30am followed by the funeral at 11:30am. Both will be held at the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Chapel in Spring Arbor, Michigan. A brief grave side service will follow at Spring Arbor Cemetery with a luncheon at the chapel. Because of Mary Lee's love of children and her committed work with them, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's hospital.
