COOK, MARJORIE A., of Waterford, passed away May 9th, 2022. Beloved wife for 60 wonderful years and best friend of the late John W. Cook. Marjorie was born July 3, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Walter and Florence Weidler (nee Carroll); after the untimely death of her mother, Marge was further raised by her loving step-mother, Gladys Weidler. She grew up on the north shores of Milwaukee, with the care of her grandparents August and Augusta Weidler, alongside her cousins Harold and Virginia. Marjorie attended Hillsdale College for her undergrad studies and there she met her husband and married in 1948. She went on to receive her Master of Arts from Western University in 1961. She became an educator and spent the majority of her time teaching for the Michigan Birmingham School District from which she retired after years of devoted service. Throughout her life she enjoyed travel and adventure with her husband and close friends. She spent her years as an ornithology hobbyist, amateur archaeologist, sewing and domestic crafter, and mostly, spent quality time as a naturalist with her husband on the Au Sable River in Michigan. Marge was blessed with a strong will and strength in conviction; she was a role model of both grace and fortitude. In addition, she had an exceptional sense of humor and wit that could make those around her laugh, smile, and feel the joy in her heart. In her final days, Marge shared that "I have had a truly wonderful life", filled with great experiences, and an even greater love, that of a good man, her beloved John. Marge's legacy will live on, not just in the hearts of her family and friends, but also, as with all great teachers, in the students, families, and communities she impacted. Those that have been blessed to be a part of Marge's life will miss the dynamic, loving woman she was.
