Marilyn Mae
(Shell) Martin
Sep 28, 1936 — Jul 2, 2025
MARTIN, MARILYN M. (née Shell) of Waterford, affectionately known as "Scooter" passed away July 2, 2025 at 88 years of age. Loving wife of Bob Martin for 46 years; cherished mother of Lori Holland, Kristi (Tom) Joss, and David (Cathy) Holland; grandmother of Ian (Jordynn) Holland and Alyssa (Aaron Durham) Holland; great grandmother of Vincent, Bailee, and Vivian with another on the way; sister of Richard (Irene) Shell; preceded in death by siblings Marci (Bob) Turnbull, Marlene Joss, Gene Shell, and Hank (Barb) Shell; survived by her in laws Robert Joss and Barbara Jones; step mother of the late Robert Martin and Tammy Martin. Marilyn was born on September 28, 1936 in Glennie, Michigan to proud parents, Carl and Orva (née Clouse) Shell. Marilyn was a 1954 graduate of Waterford Township High School and was a customer service representative for Pontiac State Bank for 22 years. She married the love of her life, Bob Martin on July 14, 1979. Enjoying retirement, Marilyn and Bob enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Hale, Michigan, wintering in Florida, and traveling in their motor home. But her biggest and proudest moments were spending time with her husband, Bob, her children, her siblings, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her nieces and nephews, and the many friends she adored. She enjoyed bowling, thanks to her brother, Gene's lessons and later in life golfing. In her quiet time she loved tending to her precious flowers. She will always be remembered for the love of her family and her prized collections of cardinals and owls. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11 AM in her beloved home town Drayton Plains at COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD. Family will receive friends Friday 4-8 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society. To post a tribute, visit www.CoatsFuneralHome.com.
