Obituary

ANGLIN, MARGARET MARY (nee Ward) died December 26th, 2019 at St. Joseph's Hospital-Oakland in Pontiac, Michigan, surrounded by her family. She was 96 years old.Mrs. Anglin was the daughter of Thomas and Ellen Ward and she had two brothers and sisters, now deceased. She was born near Leicester, Leicestershire, England, where she lived until enlisting in the Royal Air Force in 1939. She was stationed at Wilmslow Air Force Base in Chelsea, England. She worked in bookkeeping and record maintenance which reflected her skill and fascination with numbers. Mrs. Anglin met her husband, Hartley Raymond Anglin, during World War II while Mr. Anglin was serving with the U S. Army Corps of Engineers. They were married in 1945 in England and she sailed to America on the Queen Mary with hundreds of other War Brides. They lived in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Anglin became a naturalized American citizen in 1948. Her husband died of cancer in 1964. After his death she earned a GED and an associate degree in business from Wayne County Community College. She resumed her former occupation of bookkeeper with Handy Bookkeeping and Accounting of Detroit until her retirement at age 78. Mrs. Anglin is survived by her three children, Karen Anglin, wife of Gerard McKiernan of Ames, Iowa; Andrea Anglin Beaderstadt, wife of John Beaderstadt, of Lansing, Michigan; and Hartley W. Anglin of Waterford, Michigan, and his wife Kathleen; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and other extended family in England and Western Europe. She loved gardening, nature, travel, music and spending time with her family
