STEWART, MADELINE, of Brandon Twp., went home to be with the Lord September 6, 2021 at 78 years of age. Born on August 24, 1943 in Pontiac to loving parents the late William Henry and the late Madeline Rose Erwin (nee Mack); beloved wife and soul mate Darrell Stewart of 56 wonderful years; loving mother of Darren Stewart; dearest sister of Penny (Paul) Jokisch, Dorothy (Jim) Sanders, David (Elayna) Erwin, Mary (Dan) Newman, and Bob Erwin; cherished aunt of 28 loving nieces and nephews; great aunt and great great aunt of many. A woman of great faith she leaves behind her devoted church family at the Apostolic Church of Christ in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Darrell remembers the first time he laid eyes on the tall blond love of his life at church, he said it took him 3 years to get the beautiful and independent woman and it was well worth it. Madeline pursued a wide range of interests in her life with great enthusiasm and commitment: she had a green thumb and could keep any plant alive; drank teas and collected tea pots; made beautiful quilts and was an exceptional seamstress; a devoted prayer warrior, taught Sunday school, and created Fire Light Girls which helped young girls develop good Christian values and character; sang in the church choir; helped build the families beautiful cabin on Lake Huron in Cheboygan, Michigan; was a very creative artist and specialized in realism paintings. Even though Madeline was blessed with all of these gifts, she was extremely humble and focused on taking care of the people around her whom she loved with all her heart. Did not matter if you were family, she took anyone in with open arms. She and Darrell never had any grandchildren of their own, but they took care of everyone as if they were, even caring for the Air Force men and women around the holidays for a warm and safe place to visit and a home cooked meal. When Madeline first heard the news of her illness, she still had such strength and grace and found the time to help and pray for everyone around her. "God is good all the time" is a quote that she said often and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, community and anyone fortunate enough to know her. One of the lasts prayers she wrote was Isaiah 41:13, "For I am the Lord, your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not Fear; I will help you…Thank you Lord for your promise!
