Obituary

MAKER, LYNN L., age 88, of Waterford, Michigan, at rest on August 30, 2026. Lynn was born August 27, 1938 to the late Leonard and Norma (née Rhodes) Maker of Madison Heights, Michigan.

Raised in Madison Heights and Troy, Michigan, Lynn graduated from Troy High School in 1956. He married Ruth Ann Willcock in 1960 with whom he shared his love for 62 years until her passing on September 6, 2022. They raised their three children in Clawson, Michigan and moved to Waterford, Michigan in 1982 where they enjoyed an avid outdoor life on Lake Oakland. Lynn and Ruth loved to welcome family and friends to their lake house and always had boat rides and a barbeque waiting for them. Grilling the main course at gatherings was Lynn's specialty! Lynn also loved playing softball for the Clawson Park District while living in Clawson and the Senior Softball League while living in Waterford where he played softball into his early 80's.

A passionate outdoorsman his entire life, Lynn loved hunting, fishing, snow skiing, water skiing, softball, and boating. He lived an active retirement after working for 37years at Chrysler/General Dynamics, spending winters in Arizona and Texas with his beloved wife Ruth. He found great happiness in teaching family and friends all the skills he obtained from teaching himself his passions in life as well as in lovingly supporting his children and grandchildren in their endeavors. Lynn will be lovingly remembered as a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His light-hearted spirit, joking nature to encourage laughter, and big smile will be forever cherished by all who knew him.

Lynn is survived by his three children, Ron (Sally) Maker of Shorewood, Illinois, Rhonda Banfield of Clawson, Michigan, and Vicki (Mark) Milner of Waterford, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Alex, Joe, Jeremy, Jessica, Melissa, Ryan, and McKenzie; his sister, Elaine (Richard) Hildebrandt, and brother, Dale (Virginia) Maker; his brother-in-law Jerry (Betty) Willcock; and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Norma; his wife Ruth; his brothers Roy Maker and Robert (Delores) Maker; his sister Arlene (Roy) Eakes; and his brother-in-law, Tom (Robin) Willcock. Interment will be held for immediate family only. A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to COATS FUNERAL HOME-WATERFORD.
