KIRBY, LOUIS MICHAEL "Lou", 'Leo" of Clarkston, MI passed away July 18, 2023 at 63 years of age. Loving husband and high school sweetheart of Kathleen Kirby (née Gustafson) for 37 years; dear father of Helena (Kodey) Kirby-Cearlock, Candice (Alex) Lindner, and Paul Kirby; grandfather "Gega" of Brooks; and oldest of 12 children. Preceded in death by his parents, Fowler and Helen (née Mudar) Kirby. Lou was a 1978 graduate of St. Charles High School in St. Charles, MI and earned his MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit. He was a veteran of the US 82nd Airborne. An avid outdoorsman, Lou and his family cherished the countless adventures they shared together, some of the most memorable being the Kirby family reunions and the many summers and holidays spent at the cabin on Little Bass Lake in northern Michigan with the Gustafsons. He enjoyed all aspects of life, especially music, dancing and singing. An active member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Holly, he loved singing in the choir. He was always quick with a joke and words of wisdom. His smile, his wink, bear hugs, bellowing laugh, and infamous "seal call" will never be forgotten. He will be forever loved and missed. Funeral mass will be Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Rita Catholic Church, 309 E. Maple, Holly, MI. Burial follows at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday at COATS FUNERAL HOME-CLARKSTON, 8909 Dixie Hwy and in state Thursday 10:30 AM at church.
