MACY, LINDA L. of Waterford, passed away April 10, 2020 at 77 years of age, after a year-long illness. Beloved mother of Abigail (Mike) Reynolds and Mike (Meghan) Macy; grandmother of Allison, Mallory, Sarah, Addison, and Norah; loving companion of Jim Gray.Linda earned a Master of Education degree from Ball State University. She taught in the Randolph Central School District in Indiana before moving to Michigan in 1966 to teach in the Pontiac School District. She then taught 28 years with the Waterford School District before retiring in 2000. She took great pride in her work as an educator and touched the lives of many children.True to education, Linda opened the Linda L. Macy Agency, LLC, a Meemic Insurance Agency, located in Waterford in 1986, offering insurance for the educational community. She was honored to earn the "Agency of the Year" Award in 2001. The Macy Insurance Agency, Inc. is now owned and operated by her son, Mike. She was active in many community organizations, such as; Waterford Township Library Advisory Board, Waterford Foundation for Public Education, and American Business Women's Association.Linda had a small decorative sign by her mirror that read "This life is not a dress rehearsal," and she lived her life with that belief. She never passed up an opportunity to travel with dear friends, family, and her partner, Jim. She enjoyed adventures to Australia, South America, and has traveled extensively throughout North America and Europe. She treasured visits to the family farm in Ridgeville, Indiana where she was raised.Linda loved to socialize and was blessed with many lifelong friendships. For over 50 years, she was in book clubs, breakfast clubs and bridge clubs with many of the same cherished friends and neighbors.Her favorite moments were with her family, especially her five granddaughters. She loved spending time together on Lake Oakland, playing games, and of course, shopping! Her warm smile and sparkling eyes will be deeply missed by family, friends, and colleagues.
