Linda Sue
(Cappell) Pescor
Nov 26, 1942 — Jun 8, 2023
On Thursday, June 8, 2023, Linda Sue Cappell Pescor, cherished wife, mother, and friend passed away at age eighty. Over her many years she enriched the lives of the people she knew with her love, generosity, and creativity. Her father Robert Cappell was lost in WWII. This loss had a significant impact on her life. She was raised to be an independent woman by her mother Marian Weir Cappell and 2 grandmothers, Margaret Weir and Bertha Cappell. She attended Michigan State University and received her degree in education. While teaching elementary school in Pontiac she met James Pescor, the love of her life. They married on May 6th, 1967. They had three daughters, Julia Pescor (Tillman), Jennifer Pescor (Klein), and Laurel Pescor (Hamann) She spent her time helping her daughters grow into loving women.
She also spent a great deal of time creating. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and in her later life never lost her extraordinary sense of color. Through her neighborhood and love of crafting she met her best friends, Earlene Jefferies, Carol Forbes, Martha Wheeler, and Barbara Deegan. She participated in crafting shows and adventures with these ladies. They made many quilts to help raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Her charitable contributions were extensive.
When her daughters began to go away to college, she took a position at Bordine's Nursery and expanded her love of gardening. While there she was well known for the talks she gave on uses of herbs from the garden. Her own yard was a glorious riot of colors and textures, filled with so many interesting plants. She had a lifelong joy for the culinary arts and exploring many ways to give love and learning through cooking.
She always shared of her gifts with her family, daughter Julia and son in law James, grandson Garrett, daughter Jennifer and son in law Jonathan, daughter Laurel and son in law Michael, grandson Ian, and granddaughter Peyton as well as her many bonus children and friends. As her life changed with the onset of dementia, her love for her husband and family never diminished. She gave this love in her smiles, tickles, and kisses right until the very end. A memorial service to fully celebrate her life will be August 12, 2023 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
