Obituary

WILTFANG, LEE WILLIAM, age 74, of Grand Blanc, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 25, 2021 with his daughters by his side. Lee was born in Pontiac, Michigan on March 17, 1947. Loving husband of Patricia for 45 years; proud father of Trisha (Joe) Nugent and Kristen Wiltfang; dear grandfather of Austin and Evan Nugent; adored brother of Larry Wiltfang and Connie (Jim) Fiss; and caring uncle of many nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dodie Wiltfang, and his brother Brian Wiltfang. Lee contracted polio as a young child, but he was very strong willed, and he never let the disease define him. After graduating from Michigan State University in 1971, Lee yearned for a change and moved west to Vancouver, British Columbia where he learned the art of being a draftsman, met new people that became treasured lifelong friends, and had new experiences that he often talked of. After a few years, he returned to Waterford, Michigan and married the love of his life, Pat on August 9, 1975. Lee worked at the Road Commission for Oakland County for over 25 years in various departments-planning, traffic and construction. Lee was a patient and kindhearted person who was loved by many. He will be remembered for his love of storytelling (no matter how long the stories would be). Lee was a skilled woodworker and loved to carve and build ukuleles. He had a creative side and was always working with his hands. Lee was a collector of many things; and had a curiosity that would drive him to take things apart just to see how they worked. Lee loved to spend his free time fishing, gardening, cooking and working around the garage. In addition, Lee had many cherished lifelong friends that he shared his passion for tinkering, wine making, laughing, playing music, and sharing stories. Kindly keep Lee's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of a funeral service, the family will have a Celebration of Life for Lee at a later date. For those wishing to make a donation in Lee's name, please consider the March of Dimes, Detroit Public TV-PBS, or a charitable organization of your choosing.
