Lee David Matthews, 60, passed away June 7, 2019 with his daughters by his side at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.  He was born October 26, 1958, in Ferndale to the late Max and Mary Matthews.Lee is the devoted father of Leisa (Fouad) Zammar, Nina (RJ) LePage, Sandra Matthews, and Katrina (Matthew) Schill. Cherished grandfather to Fadi and Aleyah Zammar. Dear Brother to Michael (Sally) Matthews, Douglas (Jerry Grifo) Matthews, Robert (Carla) Matthews, Linda (Ramsey) Younger, Maurice (Dori) Matthews, Edward (Debbie) Matthews, Mary (Loren) McBrayer, Howard (Anna) Matthews, Harry (Cindy-Lou) Matthews, Charles Matthews, Kevin (Lori) Matthews, Cindy Kneebone, Buzz (Jenny) Matthews, and the late Donald Matthews, Ronald Matthews, and Joyce Stanis. Brother-in-law of Mark Stanis and Gail Matthews. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephewsLee graduated in 1976 from George A. Dondero High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1989 as a Sergeant in Field Artillery stationed in Georgia and later Germany. A hard worker, he was employed many years as a commercial truck driver and enjoyed traveling across the contiguous United States. Later in life he worked as a transportation specialist at the U.S. Department of Energy and as an owner-operator for Landstar.In his leisure time he displayed his creativity in gardening and landscaping his children's yard. He loved playing pool with his son-in laws. His favorite time was taking his grandchildren for walks to the park in a double stroller with endless energy and enthusiasm. Lee was a believer in Jesus Christ and the kingdom of heaven prepared for him after his passing. He will be always remembered for his generosity, amusing humor and deep love for his friends and family.
