Age 101, of Pontiac, MI and Madison, IN, passed away June /5, 2017 at his home in Pontiac, MI. Born January 8, 1916 in Madison, IN he was the son of William McLain and Sarah (Price) McLain Hess who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife Helen and one grandson Matthew Hamberg. He married Helen LaVeque in Newport, Ky on October 4, 1946. They resided in Pontiac, MI and Madison, IN. While living in Madison they resided at 507 West Main St. He was a founding member of the Pontiac Coin Club and the Michigan State Numismatic Society and remained active until his death. He was also an active member of the Ponitac and Birmingham Stamp Clubs. In Madison he was an active member of the Friends of the Library and in the Madison Historical Society. He was issued an Amateur Radio License, call WA8PWP, in 1965 and maintained it until his death. Employed 33 frac12; years for GM Truck and Bus. Survivors include his children, Kay Chase and her husband, Gerald of Maryland, Fay Smith and her husband, Jim of North Branch, MI, Kenneth L. McLain of Pontiac, Don McLain of Clarkston and Charlotte Lewis and her husband, Alan of New Jersey, three grandchildren, Gerald II, Harold, John Chase and 4 great grandchildren, Taylor, Madeleine, Leo and Kai.
