He was raised an Upper Peninsula 'Suomalainen Boyga' (Finnish Boy) on his grandfatherrsquo;s farm in Rousseau and he imparted to his children his lifelong appreciation for the natural beauty of the st1:state w:st="on"st1:place w:st="on"Michigan/st1:place/st1:state northwoods. When his mother married Constantine Sulkanen, Kenneth took his last name. During World War II he left his grandfatherrsquo;s farm to work downstate. The st1:city w:st="on"Pontiac/st1:city and st1:city w:st="on"st1:place w:st="on"Waterford/st1:place/st1:city area was to become his home for fifty years. During this time he became the proud father of Steven and Kristina. " Arial; ;"In 1950 he was called to active duty in st1:country-region w:st="on"st1:place w:st="on"Korea/st1:place/st1:country-region, and he served his country with honor. He came home from war to marry Fabiana Gwizdala, and they lived on st1:street w:st="on"st1:address w:st="on"Monrovia Street/st1:address/st1:street in st1:place w:st="on"Drayton Plains/st1:place in a house built by Kenneth, Fabiana and their friends. He was a faithful provider for his family. " Arial; ;"Kenneth enjoyed woodworking, baseball, dancing, casino-hopping, and learning of Finnish culture. Kenneth was an impeccable dresser, with a keen eye for classic, finely crafted shoes and clothing. He also loved buying and trading automobiles.
