Obituary

Kendall David Smith, of West Bloomfield, MI, passed away May 10, 2021 at 69 years of age after a brave battle with Covid-19. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 29, 1951 to his loving parents Gordon Harry Smith and Gloria Ann Utsler (nee VanMarter). Kendall graduated from Redford High School in 1969.Kendall was kind, patient, and easygoing. He was truly accepting of everyone and had a remarkable way of bringing people together. Kendall was an avid lifelong athlete and sports fan. He enjoyed football, golf, tennis and basketball. Kendall was an accomplished pool player and was sanctioned as a referee for professional straight pool, billiards and 9-ball tournaments. His time on the lake, swimming and boating, gave him great joy and he was fond of old movies. Most importantly, Kendall was a doting father and grandfather who was immensely proud of his family. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Smith; granddaughter, Brielle; sister Kimberlee (Gary) Stepp; Uncle Robert (Kristy) VanMarter; and step-brothers Nicholas, David and Edward Utsler; nephews Chris (Kym) Stepp and Aaron (Kyla) Stepp and niece Rebecca (Michael) Stepp. Kendall was a fun-loving and joyful man and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 18 at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints Cemetery located at 4401 Nelsey Rd, Waterford, MI 48329.
