LARSEN, KATIE THERESE, of Waterford, passed away on August 17, 2023, at 44 years old. Katie was born on October 4, 1978, in Pontiac, Michigan to Allan Dale and Therese Ann Knake (nee Lane). She attended Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic High School and graduated in 1996. During that time, she was a tremendous athlete and nominated for Miss Basketball her senior year. After high school, she went on to receive her bachelor's degree at Grand Valley State in Broadcast Journalism in 2001. She met the love of her life Joseph Larsen, and they were married October 18th, 2003, and together they raised two beautiful children. In her free time, she founded the HERO Foundation for families affected by cancer in honor of her late father; she worked relentlessly to ensure families would have the help and the resources to receive gifts and food for the holidays, sporting events, camps for kids, art fairs, etc. Katie was always the life of the party and never knew a stranger.

Katie is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Joe; children, Dylan and Laney Larsen; her mother Terri; her siblings, Heidi (Angelo) Newby and Jason (Jennifer) Knake; nieces and nephews, Sydney Newby, Benjamin Newby, Paige Knake, Shelby Knake, Ella Knake, MacKenzie Knake, and Cole Larsen; preceded in death by her father Allan. A memorial mass will take place Friday, August 25th, at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church on Dixie, with an Instate at 9:30 AM. The family will receive guests Thursday, August 24th, from 3-8 PM at COATS FUNERAL HOME – CLARSKTON (8909 Dixie Hwy).
